Grenada Carnival 2025 (Spicemas) honors the island’s renowned spice industry. It is among the most eagerly awaited and fast-paced events. Every year in July and August, the island of Grenada comes alive with color, vibrancy, and bustle as it turns into a huge celebration that includes parades, the Jab Jab, extravagant costumes, entrancing rhythms, and genuine Caribbean energy, among other things. The purest J’ouvert morning experience in the world is arguably found in Grenada’s Spicemas.

Spicemas is a community that knows how to enjoy life without holding back, joyful anarchy, music that makes you shiver, and cultural pride all at once. You won’t leave the same, whether you’re parading in sequins with the Fancy Mas bands or rolling in muck with the Jab Jabs.
You are welcome to dance, laugh, jump up, and immerse yourself in something greater in Grenada.
Carnival Season – August 1–12, 2025
From the enormous grand climax on Carnival Monday and Tuesday to the early warm-up celebrations at the beginning of August, the Spicemas schedule develops like a bass drop. In order to be in a position for the high-stress events, if you are planning a trip, try to arrive by the eighth.

Dimanche Gras
Pageantry and entertainment are the main events on Sunday night. Anticipate the Calypso Monarch competition, steelpan mastery, and extravagant costumes. This is your big-picture, high-drama moment. You won’t stop recording, so bring a portable fan and a portable charger.

Monday Nite Mas
Carnival Monday night is the day for the parade of lights, where thousands of masqueraders, dressed in neon and brightly colored clothing and lighting instruments, will entertain the crowds on St. George’s streets as they dance to some local Soca music.

J’Ouvert Morning
Grenada swings into overdrive. You’ll witness paint flying everywhere, horned headdresses, and devils covered in motor grease. It begins in the dark, with trucks blaring soca and drums banging. You will dance, get sloppy, and experience a metamorphosis.
TIP: Wearing anything you would never want to see again is a good idea.

Fancy Mas
This is Spicemas’ lovely, glittering core. For days, imagine sequins, feathers, and an infinite array of colors and emotions. Masqueraders danced from dawn until night as they embarked on an incredible street procession. It truly is a celebration of Grenadian craftsmanship and is Instagram gold.
Soca Monarch Finals
Carnival Friday marks the finals of the annual Soca music competition, Soca Monarch. The Soca Monarch (also known as the Power Soca Monarch) for uptempo songs (135 bpm and above) and the Groovy Soca Monarch for slower-paced songs (134 bpm and below) are the two distinct crowns or titles that contestants compete for. One of Grenada’s Carnival’s most eagerly awaited events is the Soca Monarch contest.
